Rio Bravo Rach Part Deux

Another wonderful mini residency at Rio Bravo Ranch at the beautiful La Centinela house in Presidio, Texas. It’s about as far south in Texas as one can get and on the hillside of the property you can gaze down into the Rio Grande and up at the Mexico mountains. Owner Lauren Cecil is so kind to host us for 3 days of plein air painting and good times with fellow Texas artists Debbie Carroll and Alice Leece.

Yes it was hot, but plein air painters know how to get up early to catch the most beautiful time of the day- sunrise, and beat the heat.

Alice brought a fine beef brisket her husband made from their ranch and Debbie made her wonderful chicken posole. There were dirty martinis, champagne and laughter!

I managed to complete 7 small works in oil and 4 watercolors, so I consider it a successful trip. Never underestimate the vast, natural beauty of this part of Texas. Enjoy the photos!
